Forward calls on iPhone, including only the ones you miss.
iPhone’s own setting (Settings, Apps, Phone, Call Forwarding) forwards every call, and your phone stops ringing. To forward only the calls you miss, open the Phone keypad and dial your network’s codes instead, for example **61*NUMBER# for unanswered calls on most networks. Then turn off Live Voicemail, which can answer before the call forwards.
The standard codes
- When you do not answer
- Turn on: **61*NUMBER#. Turn off: ##61#. Check: *#61#.
- When you are busy or press decline
- Turn on: **67*NUMBER#. Turn off: ##67#. Check: *#67#.
- When your phone is off or has no signal
- Turn on: **62*NUMBER#. Turn off: ##62#. Check: *#62#.
- Every call, straight away
- Turn on: **21*NUMBER#. Turn off: ##21#. Check: *#21#.
Forward every call (the iPhone setting).
- Open Settings, then Apps, then Phone. On older iOS it is Settings, then Phone.
- Tap Call Forwarding and switch it on.
- Tap Forward To and enter the number.
- If you do not see Call Forwarding, your network does not allow it from the settings. Use the codes instead.
Forward only the calls you miss (the codes).
Apple’s setting has no “when busy” or “no answer” option, so Apple tells you to use your carrier for that. Open the Phone app, tap Keypad, type the code exactly as your network writes it, and press call. The table above has the standard codes; your network’s page has its own.
Turn off Live Voicemail.
Live Voicemail answers unanswered calls on the iPhone itself, before your network can forward them. Turn it off in Settings, Apps, Phone, Live Voicemail, or your forwarding will look like it does nothing.
Dual SIM and ring time.
- With two SIMs, dial the codes from your business line. Choose it at the top of the keypad.
- Some networks, like Spark, do not let iPhones change the ring time. The default is usually 15 to 30 seconds.
- You must be in mobile coverage when you set it up.
Test it in two minutes.
Ask someone to ring your number three times. Each call should reach the number you forwarded to:
- Let the first call ring out. That tests “no answer”.
- Press decline on the second. That tests “busy”.
- Turn on flight mode for the third. That tests “phone off”.
Forward them to a receptionist, not a voicemail box.
Most people forward missed calls to voicemail, and most callers hang up on it. Aroha gives you a number to forward to. Its receptionist answers in your business’s name, books the job or takes the details, and texts you a summary. Your phone still rings first, and the cancel code switches it off any time.
Get a free number: Aroha answers up to 60 minutes of calls in your first 14 days, then about 10 calls a month for free. No card. The setup screen shows these codes with your number already filled in.

Questions
Can iPhone forward only missed calls?
Not from the Settings app; that forwards every call. Dial your network’s conditional codes on the keypad instead, such as **61*NUMBER# for calls you do not answer.
Why is Call Forwarding missing on my iPhone?
Your network does not let iPhone set it from Settings. The dial codes usually still work, or your network can switch it on for you.
How do I turn off call forwarding on iPhone?
Switch off Settings, Apps, Phone, Call Forwarding, and dial ##002# to cancel any forwarding set with codes.
Can I forward missed calls to an AI receptionist?
Yes. An AI receptionist like Aroha gives you a phone number; you forward your missed calls to it with these codes. It answers in your business’s name and texts you the details. See how it works.
